PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel pipe sheet pile and a method that resolve clogging at a joint part when installing the steel pipe sheet pile.SOLUTION: A steel pipe sheet pile has a clogging prevention tool 8 and a penetration resistance mitigation tool 9 at a bottom edge side of a joint part 4 thereof. The clogging prevention tool 8 blocks sediment from flowing into the joint from an opening at the lower edge of the joint part 4, while enables the sediment to move in a direction to flow out from the opening at the bottom edge of the joint part 4 and the joint part of the steel pipe sheet pile to be installed at an adjacent position to pass through. The penetration resistance mitigation tool 9 has a cutting edge at a bottom edge. When installing the steel pipe sheet pile 1, the clogging prevention tool 8 and the penetration resistance mitigation tool 9 are fitted at the bottom edge side of the joint, and a slit closing member 7 is fitted removably for preventing inflow of sediment into the joint part 4 of the steel pipe sheet pile. After completion of the installation of the steel pipe sheet pile, the slit closing member 7 is pulled out and removed from the joint part 4, and then the new steel pipe sheet pile is installed at the adjacent position and connected.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
