A microwave detection device for detecting a single microwave photon using a quantum nondestructive photon detector and a detection method thereof. A microwave detection device includes a quantum nondestructive microwave photon detector connected to an orthogonal microwave hybrid coupler. The distributed nonlinear element is coupled to a quadrature microwave hybrid coupler. The detection method includes receiving a reflected microwave signal from a quantum non-destructive microwave device with an orthogonal microwave hybrid coupler. It also includes determining the presence of a microwave photon based on a distributed nonlinear element in a voltage state.
