To provide a defocus detection device capable of reducing the storage capacity and the transmit capacity while ensuring the accuracy by determining and representing aperture information of a lens on the basis of shape parameters representing the shape of the aperture.SOLUTION: A lens unit includes: an imaging optical system; storage means that stores aperture information of the imaging optical system; and transmission means that transmits the aperture information to an imaging apparatus. The aperture information is determined on the basis of shape parameter representing the shape of the aperture that defines the outer edge of the light beam passing through the imaging optical system.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
