PRODUCTION PROCESS OF BIO-CUPS AND EDIBLE, RECYCLABLE, DISPOSABLE AND BIODEGRADABLE BIO-UTENSILS FROM AGAR-AGAR (HYDROCOLOID) EXTRACTED FROM BRAZILIAN RED SEAWEED FROM THE FILOD RHODOPHYTA
production process of edible, recyclable, disposable and biodegradable bio-cups and bio-utensils from agar-agar (hydrocolloid) extracted from Brazilian red marine algae from the phylum rhodophyta. in the last two decades, disposable polystyrene cups made from oil have become widely consumed in companies due to their practicality, hygiene and low price. this daily use represents an additional problem for the environment. the destination of this type of material is common waste, as there is no recycling for disposable cups. therefore, the objective of the present invention is to provide the food and biodegradable plastics industries with an innovative process for the production of edible, recyclable, disposable and biodegradable bio-cups and bio-utensils from agar (hydrocolloid) extracted from seaweed. Brazilian red rhodophyta, for total or partial replacement of products available on the market for disposable and biodegradable utensils, such as cups, bowls, etc. therefore, this type of technology described here is part of the development of new biodegradable materials, with strong environmental appeal and with the objective of achieving environmental sustainability. bio-cups and bio-utensils when disposed of in the environment undergo natural degradation by microorganisms, as they are biodegradable products, with characteristics superior to traditional products on the market, and reduce the direct impact on the environment.
