methods are provided to transfer resistance to soybean rust (sbr) in non-resistant soybean germplasm. in some modalities, the methods include introgression of sbr resistance in a non-resistant soybean with the use of one or more nucleic acid markers for marker assisted reproduction between soybean lines to be used in a soybean breeding program, in that the markers are linked and / or associated with sbr resistance. single nucleotide polymorphisms (snps) associated with sbr resistance are also provided; soy plants, seeds and tissue crops produced by any of the revealed methods; seed produced by the revealed soy plants; and compositions that include amplification primer pairs capable of initiating polymerization of DNA by a DNA polymerase in soybean nucleic acid models to generate soybean marker amplicons.
