the invention relates to a modular system for weed control for a rail vehicle. the modular system has a control unit for producing control signals for control valves and mixers in a separate herbicide and mixer module and for producing a second set of control signals for control valves in a spray boom. the herbicide and mixer module has a container to store different herbicides and electrical connection elements for connections to the control unit. in addition, a spray bar is present, which is fitted to a set of nozzles, in order to spray herbicides from the herbicide module and mixer. in addition, a camera module is present, which produces a weed signal in response to the detection of a weed, in order to control the spraying of herbicides. the camera module is so far from the spray boom that, despite the high speed, there is enough time to deliver the herbicide to the nozzles.
