a separating hydrocyclone (1) and a system comprising a plurality of such separating hydrocyclones (1) are shown. the separating hydrocyclone comprises a head portion (2) with an inlet duct (3) and an overflow discharge tube (4) arranged in the head part (2). the separating hydrocyclone (1) also has an apex discharge port (8) and a conical separation portion (5) disposed between the head part and the apex discharge port. the conical separation portion tapers distally away from the head. furthermore, the head part further comprises an emptying port arranged on the head part separately from the overflow discharge tube. thus, a separating hydrocyclone is obtained capable of achieving improved operational efficiency with reduced risk of a thick fraction being lost and left on the head. this effectively reduces maintenance requirements and extends the life of the hydrocyclone.
