Providing an announcement to a calling party prior to redialing Communication networks (100) and associated methods for providing an announcement or other informational message to a calling party (112) prior to providing redial tones are disclosed. a communication network (100) described herein receives a call from the calling party (112) to the called party (122), and temporarily interrupts call processing for the call. communication network (100) then selects an announcement for the call, and initiates delivery of the announcement to the calling party (112). after the announcement is delivered to the calling party 112, the communication network 100 resumes call processing for the call. Upon resuming call processing, the communication network (100) provides redial tones to the calling party (112) and attempts to connect the call to the called party (122).
