METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A FIBER OPTIC PREFORM. The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing an optical fiber preform that comprises, from the center towards the periphery, a central core, an intermediate coating, a buried trench, and an external coating, being that the method comprises the steps of: preparing a first rod that constitutes at least the central core, the first rod being prepared by deposition of chemical vapor (CVD) in a first tube; prepare a second hollow rod that constitutes at least the buried ditch, the second rod being prepared by deposition of chemical vapor (CVD) in a second tube; and fit the second stem like a glove over the first stem. This method is used to manufacture large-capacity fiber preforms, while using small and / or medium-capacity deposition benches.
