Compositions and methods for the treatment of disorders affecting motor function are revealed,such as motor function affected by disease or injury to the brain and/or spinal cord. Also,a self-supporting carrier of a gland-related virus for the treatment of motor neuron disorders such as spinal muscular atrophy is revealed,lateral myopathic sclerosis,the dorsal prehistoric muscular atrophy,cerebral ataxia,the primary lateral sclerosis and the traumatic spinal cord injury.
