The invention is in the field of digital image processing. It is a method of painting cleaning that aims to remove insignificant background, noise and leave only anomalies suitable for further processing. The method consists of implementing the following steps:(a) a digital image of the area of interest with possible surface defect, anomaly is created;(b) the digital image is converted into a matrix;(c) the image resolution is reduced by means of pixel diameters in a user-defined square window;(d) in a reduced image, a new binary image is then derived in the direction of the X-axis or Y-axis and a new binary image is created by scaling; and(e) isolated pixels are searched in the derived image and removed from the image.Only areas that are desirable from the point of view of further processing remain in the picture. The invention also concerns an imaging device (1) that estimates the position of the objects sought in the image. The device (1) consists of a digital camera (2) and a computing part (3). The digital camera (2) contains the adaptive circuits (4) of the analogue CCD or CMOS part and the communication interface (5) for the transmission of digitised dat a and the computing part (3) consists of a unit (7) of data processing with a CPU, an evaluation and diagnostic module (8),interface (9) for contact with the environment and control module (10). The module (8) integrates the image reduction algorithm by diameter according to the square window size, the proximity pixel derivation algorithm and image bination, the filter algorithm of the isolated pixel s in the image with the defined detection radio, the histogram algorithm for the occurrence of anomalies in the image and the algorithm for estimating the position of objects sought,The module (10) integrates general control and control software for the operation of the device (1). The digital camera (2) is connected to the computing part (3) in one direction via the transmission medium (6),the adaptive circuit (4) is one-way connected to the communication interface (5) and the unit (7) is two-way connected to the module (8),interface (9) and module (10).
