Wind turbine having a circular tower structure with passive flow control means and use of such circular tower structure

A circular wind turbine tower structure with passive flow control means for suppressing vortex induced vibrations in said tower structure is described. The said passive flow control means comprises vortex generator units which each comprises a fin and a base through which the fin is attached to the surface of the tower structure. The vortex 10 generator will influence the boundary layer around the circular tower structure and thereby suppressing vortex induced vibrations. Each of said fins comprises a rectangular plate being arranged substantially radially in relation to the circular structure and in a plane being substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis through the tower structure.
