The invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. To obtain a typology of hereditary keratectasias, at least six types of hereditary keratectasias are distinguished and diagnosed, including isolated keratoconus; keratoconus, which is part of the syndromes; keratoconus, combined with another pathology of the organ of vision; keratoglobus; pellucid degeneration; hereditary keratitis based on preclinical laboratory tests, including molecular biological, immunological, immunohistochemical, biochemical, morphological, electron microscopic; clinical ophthalmological and general syndromological studies; hardware and instrumental studies of the organ of vision and other systems and human organs, medical and genetic counseling. The method allows for the prevention and surgical treatment of keratectasia depending on its type and anatomical level of the lesion.
