The invention relates to compositions comprising a) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of formulae (II)-(IV), wherein Ra is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 5-29 carbon atoms (C₅-C₂₉), Rb is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 1-23 carbon atoms (C₁-C₂₃), and b) a component selected from the group consisting of water, at least organic solvent and a mixture of water and at least one organic solvent, and its use as surfactant in EOR processes.
