METHOD OF INTERMAXILLARY FIXATION AT MANDIBULAR FRACTURES

The invention relates to medicine, in particular, to methods of intermaxillary fixation. According to the method of intermaxillary fixation, splints (mouth guards) are fixed to each other by a rubber rod. Cast models are taken from both jaws, after which splints of about 1 mm thick are made from ethylene vinyl acetate to cover the tooth range and 4-6 mm of the mucous membrane of the alveolar process, then 4-6 stainless steel or titanium orthodontic buttons with a mushroom head 2.5-3.0 mm in diameter and a 2 mm thick neck are attached to each splint; then the produced splints are applied to the upper and lower jaws, and intermaxillary fixation is performed. A high functional and aesthetic result of the treatment method is provided.
