The present invention refers to a method for producing indirubin by condensation of isatin and indoxyle derived by extraction from indigo leaves (Indigofera suffruticosa Mill.), which comprises the steps of: a) thermo transforming the indigo (indican) precursor, previously extracted with a biomass extraction solvent from indigo plants, into indicant 8 and its controlled chemical hydrolysis for the generation of indoxyl in the reaction medium, and b) the chemical fixation of indoxyl and the addition of isatin to the aqueous medium during the extraction for enabling the condensation thereof with indoxyl and finally the production of indirubin.
