The invention relates to a method and a system for the adaptive control of active power filters arranged in parallel with the load. According to the invention, the method automatically regulates the voltage on the compensation capacitor and the parameters of the PI-type voltage regulator, depending on the inactive power to be compensated, the method being based on original relations of dimensioning the capacitance of the compensation capacitor and the voltage thereon.
