Expandable mixture for production of foamy glass and method of preparation thereof

The foamable closed cell foam glass composition comprises, per 100 kg of waste glass meal with a particle size of 0.5 μm to 500 μm: 0.1 kg to 10 kg of water; 0.1 kg to 10 kg of a foaming agent which is at least one alkaline earth carbonate, for example calcium, magnesium, barium and strontium carbonate, with a particle size of 1 nm to 40 μm. The foamable mixture is obtained by adding an alkaline earth metal carbonate foaming agent to the water at ambient temperature, optionally adding: a liquid and / or solid anticoagulant; water-soluble additives such as boric acid; water glass; glycerin; a waterglass premixed with glycerin; carbon black; powder additives such as silica or titanium dioxide, or powdered aluminum components. Thereafter, the obtained aqueous solution or aqueous suspension is added to the waste glass meal. After each addition of any component, the mixture is stirred for 1 to 30 minutes, preferably for 1 to 5 minutes. The obtained homogeneous aqueous solution / aqueous suspension is preferably sonicated with a power of 5 kW to 100 kW, preferably 50 kW to 80 kW for at least 2 minutes.
