The method involves providing a folding assembly (2), over which single book strands of a majority of single book strands (HSN) brought together to a total book strand (GHS) are guidable. Information printed on the single book strands are detected, and correction values are determined from the printed information for correcting a crop mark error of one of the book strands. The crop mark error is corrected by an actuator attached to the single book strands. A total crop mark of the total book strand is corrected using detected imprinted information at the total book strand. An independent claim is also included for a web-fed rotary press comprising a folding machine and a folding assembly.
