Abnormal phenotypes of singamia observed with imaging at pre-established time intervals for early identification of embryos with inferior development potential

An in vitro method for deselecting one or more human embryos with poor development potential comprising: (A) culturing one or more embryos in vitro under conditions sufficient for embryo development; (B) obtaining images of said one or more embryos over a period of time from at least singamia to at least the first cytokinesis; and (C) deselecting an embryo from said one or more human embryos when the embryo exhibits abnormal singamia or immeasurable singamia as determined by: (i) lack of visualization of the pronuclei; or (ii) disordered movement of the pronuclei; or (iii) when the period of time between singamia and the first cytokinesis is less than about 1 hour; where the embryo is unlikely to reach the blastocyst stage or successfully implant in a uterus.
