ENERGY EFFICIENT BUSHING FOR A TRANSFORMER

An energy efficient bushing for a transformer is provided, the bushingcomprising anelongate enclosure body to accommodate a conductor extending along alongitudinal axisand having first and second terminal ends, the ends extending from oppositesides of theenclosure body; and a mounting flange fitted to the enclosure body to enablethe bushing tobe mounted to an enclosure of the transformer. The enclosure body comprisesfirst andsecond electrically insulating layers partially surrounding the conductor, thefirst layer beingsubstantially provided by a first polymeric material, within which are energyefficientscreens, and the second layer being substantially provided by a secondpolymeric material,the layers being arranged about the conductor in such a manner that thebushing issubstantially cavity-free. In an embodiment, the first layer defines an innercore, with thesecond layer providing an outer cover that at least partially covers the innercore.
