The present invention relates to a system (10, 10') comprising an air dryer unit (12, 12') for an air treatment installation (14, 14') of a vehicle (16, 16') and an electronic counter (18, 18'), wherein the air treatment installation (14, 14') and/or the air dryer unit (12, 12') has an electronic memory module (20, 20'), said electronic memory module (20, 20') having a memory space (22, 22'), and wherein a counter information can be stored in the memory space (22, 22'), on the basis of which the usage state of the air dryer unit (12, 12') can be read out, and wherein an operating cycle of the air dryer unit (12, 12') is detectable by means of the electronic counter (18, 18'), wherein a counting signal can be generated on the basis of the detection, and the counting signal can be transmitted to the electronic memory module (20, 20') for storing as counting information. The present invention further relates to an air dryer unit (12, 12') for said system (10, 10') and to an air treatment installation (14, 14') having said system (10, 10') and to a method for operating said system (10, 10'), said air dryer unit and/or said air treatment installation (14, 14').
