This load-lowering system has: a robot arm for grasping an article in an article group; an auxiliary conveyor on which the article grasped by the robot arm is placed, the placed article being transported to a transport conveyor; a raising/lowering mechanism for raising and lowering the auxiliary conveyor; a sensor disposed at a height that is greater, by a fixed distance, than the height of an upper surface of the article located at the highest position in the article group or than the height of an accommodating container for accommodating the article group; and a control device for controlling operations of the auxiliary-conveyor raising/lowering mechanism in accordance with an operation for disposing the article grasped by the robot arm on the auxiliary conveyor, the operations being controlled so that the height of the auxiliary conveyor is caused to match the height at which the sensor is disposed.
