The present invention relates to the use of a protein of fungal origin from the fungus Penicillium expansum, called AfpA, and/or to compositions comprising the protein, in the control of phytopathogenic agents, preferably phytopathogenic fungi and oomycetes of plants and/or crops. The invention also relates to methods for the biological control of phytopathogens in plants and/or crops, which comprises administering an effective amount of the protein or of a composition comprising it to the plants and/or crops.
