This non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided with a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a non-aqueous electrolyte, wherein the positive electrode includes a lithium transition metal composite oxide which has an α-NaFeO2-type crystal structure and is represented by general formula, Li1+αMe1-αO2 (0α, Me is a transition metal element containing Ni and Mn, or containing Ni, Mn, and Co), and in an X-ray diffraction diagram measured using a CuKα ray, a diffraction peak is observed in the range of 20-22°.
