A portable multifunctional banknote detector, comprising a frame (2), a banknote winding assembly, a banknote dispensing assembly, a banknote receiving assembly, a display (6), a drive assembly, and a control circuit board, wherein a camera and an LED light-compensating lamp are further arranged inside the frame (2); the control circuit board further comprises an image comparison and identification module; and the image comparison and identification module is used for discerning, according to a banknote photographed by the camera, the currency and authenticity of the banknote. When verifying banknotes, the camera works and photographs each banknote that has passed, the image comparison and identification module then discerns the currency and authenticity of the banknote, and number information of the banknote can be further read. A detection means is additionally provided, further improving the accuracy of a detection result. Since the camera is mounted inside the frame, the LED light-compensating lamp needs to perform light compensation so as to photograph a clear image of the banknote.
