FILTER SELECTION METHOD, FILTER SELECTION DEVICE, AND FILTER SELECTION PROGRAM

This filter selection method is designed to be executed by a filter selection device and includes: a step in which frames to be encoded for a low-temporal-resolution moving picture are generated from frames for a high-temporal-resolution moving picture in accordance with a filter coefficient; a step in which deviations between the frames for the high-temporal-resolution moving picture and the frames to be encoded for the low-temporal-resolution moving picture are acquired for each of the frames to be encoded, and a filter coefficient which minimizes a weighted sum of the amount of codes generated from the frames to be encoded and the deviations is selected from a set of filter coefficient candidates; and a step in which a set of filter coefficient candidates is generated on the basis of the amounts of codes generated with other filter coefficients which minimize the predicted values of the amounts of codes to be generated.
