One aspect of the invention relates to a driving system for the automated driving of a motor vehicle. The driving system is a driving system with automated longitudinal and lateral guidance or exclusively with automated lateral guidance. As well as the automated driving function, the driving system has a function for conditioning the driver for a driving situation that falls outside the system boundaries of the driving system. Within the framework of the known driving function, the motor vehicle is guided in an automated driving mode with automated longitudinal and lateral guidance or exclusively with automated lateral guidance in such a way that the motor vehicle follows the course of a traffic lane on a roadway. The function for conditioning the driver allows the driving system, with recognition of the course of the traffic lane, to deliberately generate, as a conditioning situation, a driving movement of the motor vehicle, said movement deviating from the course of the traffic lane, in order to prompt the driver to manually correct the driving movement that deviates from the course of the traffic lane.
