The present invention relates to a composition comprising a plant extract as an effective ingredient for preventing or treating a particulate matter-induced respiratory disease. The composition comprises an extract from a mixture of black beans, taraxacum herb, lonicera flower, Saururus chinensis (Lour.) Baill., cassia seeds, and licorice as an effective ingredient and, as such, alleviates the respiratory and pulmonary inflammation caused by inhalation of particulate matter. As a natural functional substance with excellent stability and economic benefit, the composition can be utilized as a novel substance in the medicinal and food fields.
