The invention relates to a cutting device (1; 1`; 1``) for the chipless cutting to length of plastics workpieces (100), in particular plastics tubes, wherein the cutting device (1; 1`; 1``) has a supporting part (4) as a support for the plastics workpiece (100) and a cutting edge (3) that is movable with respect to the supporting part (4). The cutting device (1; 1`; 1``) is designed to deliver a wetting fluid to the cutting edge (3) at the contact point thereof with the plastics workpiece (100) to be machined. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for the chipless cutting to length of a plastics workpiece (100) and to the use of an aqueous gel as an application lubricant for the workpiece-side contact points during the chipless cutting to length of a plastics or plastics composite workpiece (100).
