The invention relates to a method for determining haemodynamic parameters in a blood vessel in an automated manner on the basis of invasively recorded pulse waves by analysis of said pulse waves and/or pulse waves selected from the totality, but at least one pulse wave. The invasive measurement and/or determination of the pulse wave parameters (PWPs), in particular the pulse wave velocity (PWV), is performed by the following method steps: introducing a pressure-measuring catheter having a pressure-measuring sensor as far as an intended measurement point within the blood vessel; recording and storing a temporal pressure curve and detecting a pulse wave signal at the measurement point; identifying and classifying the individual pulse waves from the pulse wave signal; analysing the pulse waves in respect of various properties, for example times, amplitudes, forms and/or relevant points; determining the PWV on the one hand by means of a wave decomposition method by determining and calculating a time offset with a given reference distance between a pulse-wave basic signal component and the pulse-wave echo component of the blood vessel system in the pulse wave signal; determining the PWV on the other hand by means of a wave analysis without dependency on the reference distance via a given pressure/flow model and a pressure/volume model of the blood vessel system.
