This fuel pump control system comprises: a pump control unit 31 that controls a fuel pump on the basis of control target values of one or more target items of an internal combustion engine; a pump characteristic detection unit 32 that acquires a pump characteristic value which is needed to determine deterioration of the fuel pump from among pump characteristic values indicating the operating state of the fuel pump, including current and voltage applied to the fuel pump, generated voltage, and the speed of the fuel pump; a pump characteristic recording unit 33 that records the pump characteristic value acquired by the pump characteristic detection unit along with the control target values; a determination threshold value setting unit 34 that sets a determination threshold value for determining the deterioration of the fuel pump using the recorded pump characteristic value, a control target value, and/or a combination of two or more control target values; and a fuel pump deterioration determination unit that determines the deterioration of the fuel pump using the determination threshold value and the pump characteristic value stored in the pump characteristic recording unit.
