The present invention relates to a process for recovering starch present in paper and/or cardboard, by: [a] preparation of an aqueous suspension A of fibres, [b] treatment of the aqueous suspension A and formation of two fractions: - fraction B containing water, fibres, fines and fillers; - fraction C containing water and dissolved and/or colloidal starch, fines and fillers, [c] separation of fraction C into two fractions: - fraction D containing water and dissolved starch, - fraction E containing water and colloidal starch, fines and fillers, [d] use or treatment of fraction D, [e] use or exploitation of fraction E.
