An automatic parking method based on multi-parking space detection, and a vehicle-mounted control system. The method comprises: detecting a reachable area around a vehicle, and detecting available parking spaces in the reachable area (101, 201, 301); obtaining the positions of the above available parking spaces and storing the positions of the available parking spaces in a cache (102, 202, 302); determining at least one available parking space as a candidate available parking space (103, 203, 303); receiving a selection instruction for a candidate available parking space to determine a target parking space (104, 206, 304); and controlling the vehicle to park at the position of the target parking space (105, 207, 309). The implementation of the method enables a user to select a parking space according to the user's own will, thereby making the automatic parking process more intelligent.
