A non-intrusive vacuum cleaner identification method based on a third harmonic time-domain change law, comprising the steps of: sampling voltage and current; obtaining a current value according to a third harmonic current sequence; calculating the amount of sudden change of third harmonic current at an incoming line end; calculating the difference between steady third harmonic current before and after the sudden change; and calculating the multiple K of the suddenly changing third harmonic current and determining the starting state of a vacuum cleaner. Thus, the starting state of the vacuum cleaner is effectively determined. According to this method, the starting state of the vacuum cleaner can be accurately identified without entering the resident' home. The identification result helps a user understand the starting characteristics and energy consumption of the vacuum cleaner, and can make corresponding auxiliary determination for its fault diagnosis.
