A method and a system for monitoring the position of materials by using a low-power infrared beacon and a high-speed camera are provided. A method for monitoring the position of materials by using a low-power infrared beacon and a high-speed camera, according to an embodiment of the present invention, comprises the steps of: transmitting, by a beacon module, ID information through an infrared signal; allowing the high-speed camera to receive the infrared signal so as to extract the ID information; and allowing an information processing device to receive the extracted ID information so as to extract material information and material position information corresponding to the ID information from among pre-stored pieces of information. Therefore, the positions of materials distributed at an industrial site can be accurately detected by recognizing the precise position of a tag on the basis of coordinates detected from an image and, simultaneously, recognizing other various tags existing on a screen.
