A method for preparing a metal nanosheet, comprising the following steps: providing a metal foil, coating the surface of the metal foil with an organic coating, and folding multiple times and pressing multiple times the metal foil coated with the organic coating to obtain a metal-organic coating composite sheet; and separating the metal sheet and the organic coating in the metal-organic coating composite sheet to obtain a metal nanosheet. The metal nanosheet obtained by using the method for preparing a metal nanosheet has a thickness of 5-1,000 nm. Also provided are use of the metal nanosheet obtained by the method for preparing a metal nanosheet as a negative electrode active material and a negative electrode active material. The preparation method has a simple process, is easy to implement, can widen the selection range of two-dimensional nano-sized metals, lowers the costs of material preparation, reduces the generation of chemical waste liquid, and can yield a two-dimensional metal nano material having high purity and good quality.
