The invention relates to a device for forming mammography images to analyse and detect possible inhomogeneities in the breast tissue of a patient by using near infrared laser light in diffuse reflectance geometry, the device comprising a horizontal support of the patient that comprises at least one transparent window in its cross section; and measuring means disposed under the at least one transparent window and held by the support, the measuring means comprising: means for generating beams of near infrared laser light; means for directing the laser light beams toward the at least one transparent window; at least one wavelength filter; means for sensing light and generating images; and a unit for controlling, processing and standardising the images.
