A gear mechanism (20) for controlling a snake bone assembly, and an endoscope (100); the gear mechanism (20) comprises an inner and outer sleeve passive gear rotary shaft (4), a driving gear structure (6), at least two racks (8, 9, 10), and a driven gear structure (7). During operation, an inner and outer rotating gear set (5) rotates to drive the inner and outer sleeve passive gear rotary shaft (4) to rotate, the inner and outer sleeve passive gear rotary shaft (4) drives the driving gear structure (6) to rotate, and, by means of the driven gear structure (7), the driving gear structure (6) drives a traction steel wire cable connected to a snake bone assembly to move, thereby controlling the snake bone assembly to move left to right and front to back. In the described process, the driving gear structure (6) and the driven gear structure (7) drive the traction steel wire cable to move, which is beneficial in improving the flexibility and control accuracy in the inner and outer rotating gear set (5) controlling the snake bone assembly.
