The invention relates to a support system for a dental treatment, in particular by changing the tooth color, having a measuring device (10) for determining tooth data (12). The ascertained data is transmitted from the measuring device (10) to a data processing device (16). The processing device (16) additionally has a camera (18) for capturing a tooth image (20). By using a selection device, a degree of color change for the tooth image or the teeth is determined, and subsequently the tooth image is adapted on the basis of the selected degree of color change using an adaptation device. In this manner, the patient can evaluate a color change in relation to the patient's face. Thus, the color change of the patient's teeth produced by the dental treatment in comparison to the appearance of the patient's face can be presented to the patient.
