A support system for dental treatment, in particular by changing the tooth color, has a measuring device (10) for determining tooth data (12). The determined data are transmitted from the measuring court (10) to a data processing device (16). The processing device (16) also has a camera (18) for recording a tooth image (20). With the aid of a selection device, a degree of color change for the tooth image or the teeth is determined and then with the aid of an adaptation device the tooth image is adapted on the basis of the selected degree of color change. This enables the patient to assess a change in color in relation to his face. The change in color of his teeth due to the dental treatment in relation to the appearance of his face can thus be shown to the patient.
