The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a high-tenacity yarn and a high-tenacity yarn manufactured thereby and, particularly, to a method for manufacturing a high-tenacity yarn and a high-tenacity yarn manufactured thereby, the method comprising a main coating step of coating a yarn, made of at least one of nylon and polyester, with a coating raw material to form a coated yarn, the coating raw material comprising 3-35 parts by weight of a reinforcing agent composed of a mineral material relative to 100 parts by weight of a coating solution containing polyurethane, so that a nylon or polyester yarn having a relatively lower tenacity than high modulus polyethylene is subjected to yarn coating, leading to high tenacity, improved processability, and reduced manufacturing costs.
