The present invention relates to a method for providing a first method product by cryogenically separating air and for producing a second method product in the form of electrical energy, in which method an arrangement (100) is used which has an air separation unit as a first system unit (110) and a second system unit in the form of a power plant unit (120), wherein, in the first system unit (110), air which is compressed in a non-electrical manner is supplied to the cryogenic separation process. According to the invention: the second method product is produced in the power plant unit (120) without using an air product which is provided by means of the first system unit (110); and the non-electrical compression is carried out in the second system unit (120) and/or using mechanical energy which is provided in the second system unit (120) and transferred to the first system unit (110). A steam turbine (112) is used, one side of which is mechanically coupled in the second system unit (120) to a generator (G) which is used for providing the second method product, and the other side of which is mechanically coupled to an air compressor (111) which compresses the air in a non-electrical manner. The invention also relates to a corresponding system (100).
