Provided are methods and kits for predicting a patient's response to an anti-cancer drug. The method comprises determining in a drug treated biological sample a ratio of an expression level of a first set of genes to an expression level of a second set of genes to obtain a post-treatment gene ratio and comparing the post-treatment gene ratio to a reference value, wherein if the post-treatment gene ratio is greater than the reference value, the patient is predicted to respond to the anti-cancer drug and if the post-treatment gene ratio is less than the reference value, the patient is predicted not to respond to the anti-cancer drug.
