Container handling device (10) that can be installed on board a means of transport on wheels (2), the device being configured for - attaching a front end (4a) of a container (4) placed in front of a rear end (3b) of a loading surface (3) of the means of transport (2), - hoisting the front end (4a) of the container (4), - moving towards a front end (3a) of the loading surface (3) while the means of transport (2) is wedged under the container (4) in an inclined position until the container (4) comes into contact with the rear end (3b) of the loading surface (3) of the means of transport (2), and - straightening and dragging the container (4) in a horizontal position from the rear end (3b) to the front end (3a) of the loading surface (3) of the means of transport (2).
