A flexible hybrid solar/coal-fired power generation system comprises a coal-fired power generator thermodynamic system and a high-temperature heat storage system coupled to a solar heat power generator comprising a solar heat collection apparatus (11), low-temperature/high-temperature heat storage medium containers (13, 15), a heat storage medium pump (12), and a heat storage medium and feed water heat exchanger (16). A heat storage medium heater (10) is provided in a flue of a boiler (1). A solar heat storage medium regulation valve (18) and the heat storage medium pump (12) cooperate to regulate a flow rate of a heat storage medium entering the solar heat collection apparatus (11) and the heat storage medium heater (10), so as to eliminate the effects of changes in solar radiation and to maintain output power stability. In addition, the heat storage medium containers (13, 15) are for peak load regulation, such that when burning is stably performed in the boiler, output of a steam turbine is reduced. Further, a high-pressure heater regulation valve bank is used to regulate, by means of opening and closing, a flow rate and a temperature of feed water entering the heat storage medium and feed water heat exchanger, such that the system meets a faster load change rate requirement of the generator. The present invention achieves hybrid solar/coal-fired power generation, reduces coal consumption, and greatly improves the flexibility and economy of the generator. In addition, an operation method for the system is also disclosed.
