Summary The present invention discloses a method for producing a composition comprising archaeal lipids from a Sulfolobuscell culture, comprising (1) growing a Sulfolobuscell culture at a temperature of 75 to 85°C and at a growth rate of 0.025 to 0.035 per hour and ex- tracting the archaeal lipids from the archaeal culture so as to obtain a composition for use for oral retard therapy, or (2) growing a Sulfolobuscell culture at a temperature of 75 to 85°C and at a growth rate of 0.005 to 0.015 per hour and ex- tracting the archaeal lipids from the archaeal culture so as to obtain a composition for use for oral acutetherapy; and compositions obtainable by such method.
