The invention relates to an orthodontic device for expanding the maxilla or the mandible of a patient in the transverse direction and to the method of manufacturing same. According to the invention, a first expansion-screw housing, a first branch and first means of pressing against one or more teeth of the patient form a first seamless one-piece assembly obtained by powder bed fusion, and a second housing, a second branch and second means for pressing against one or more teeth of the patient form a second seamless one-piece assembly obtained by powder bed fusion. The first and second one-piece assemblies are machined to allow the fitting of the screws and of the slides of a screw-type expansion system.
