Embodiments of the present application relate to the field of Internet of things communications, and provide a device discovery method and apparatus, a control terminal, and an Internet of things auxiliary device. The method is used for an Internet of things auxiliary device, the Internet of things auxiliary device is connected to a non-Internet-of-things device, and the method comprises: receiving a device discovery message sent by a control terminal; and sending a device discovery response message to the control terminal, the device discovery response message comprising a first device type and a second device type, the first device type being the device type of an Internet of things device, and the second device type being the device type of an Internet of things device corresponding to the non-Internet-of-things device. Compared with the related art in which a control terminal can only discover an Internet of things auxiliary device but cannot discover a non-Internet-of-things device connected to same, the use of the solution provided by the embodiments of the present application enables a control terminal to discover a non-Internet-of-things device in an Internet of things system, thereby facilitating improvement of the subsequent control efficiency on the non-Internet-of-things device.
