The invention relates to an industrial automation device comprising a monitoring unit for checking and monitoring the integrity state of the industrial automation device, comprising at least one device component which communicates with the monitoring unit via a communication connection without feedback, wherein the feedback-free communication includes the process of providing at least one device component parameter from the device component to the monitoring unit; the monitoring unit is designed to record and process the provided device component parameter of the device component of the industrial automation device in order to check and monitor the integrity state of the industrial automation device and record and/or provide the integrity state of the industrial automation device as the result of the processed device component parameter of the device component of the industrial automation device; and the monitoring unit is designed as a trusted device component which is protected against manipulation in the industrial automation device by means of a manipulation protection system.
